It's also home to the NYO Games - a series of gruelling high school sports inspired by real-world survival skills with historical ties to the indigenous tribes of the state. In this episode, we head to Anchorage to learn about the history and ancient origins of the games - from sneaking up on a seal, to sending a message across the tundra without a cell phone - and meeting some of the student athletes taking part in the state’s toughest high school sports tournament.
