From to Mariachi to Ska Punk, This Is Latin Music Today
Our celebration of Latin sounds begins with a record collector who has amassed one of the largest libraries of Latin music in the world … in her house in Spain. In East Brooklyn, New York, we meet a bodega owner-turned-DJ who runs a Latin radio station in his basement that plays everything from merengue to urban music. The ska punk scene is alive and well in Los Angeles thanks to a community of Latin American musicians. And back in New York City, an all-female mariachi band is proving the genre isn’t just for men.
