Easily the BEST Baloney Sandwich on Route 66
Looking for things to eat in Oklahoma? Try a smoked baloney sandwich from Baloney Maroney’s, a Tulsa food truck and one of the most unexpected roadside food spots on Route 66. Opened in 2025 by W.T. Cauley, a lifelong barbecue guy who discovered smoked baloney after moving to Oklahoma, every sandwich is named after a city along the route: the Chicago with pickled peppers and celery salt on a poppy seed bun, the Tulsa on toasted white bread, the Albuquerque with cream cheese and roasted green chili, and the Santa Monica with avocado on toasted sourdough. Food critic Jason “J” Lee sat down to a very Route 66 lunch with Cauley and Rhys Martin of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association, and called it easily the best baloney sandwich he’s ever had. Proof that some of the best food in America comes out of a food truck on the side of the road. Got a story idea for us?
